The verse in its languages

Vulgate (Clementine)
Melior est sapientia quam vires, et vir prudens quam fortis.
Septuagint (Swete)
The Greek has no such verse: this line is the Vulgate's own.

Haydock's commentary

Wisdom, &c. This is not in Greek, and seems out of its place, being taken from Proverbs xvi. 32., or Ecclesiastes ix. 16. (Calmet)

The connection with the preceding is observable in the next verse. (Haydock)

From Haydock's Catholic Bible Commentary, 1859, in the transcription made by Todd Easton and kept online by John Paul Wohlschied at johnblood.gitlab.io/haydock.
